Rooibos
Rooibos, which means reddish drink in African language, is a little tree from the acacia family. Rooibos does not contain caffeine, and is very low in tannins. It exclusively grows in South Africa, on the Cederberg mountains, located north of Cap Town. The infusion is made of thin lightly fermented pieces, which is why it is also called "red tea". Rooibos infusion can be drunk hot or cold, with or without milk. Its savour is mostly sweet with a light hazelnut taste. Different medicinal properties are attributed to this infusion such as the treatment of asthma, allergies, insomnia, colic or eczema.
